Winter Games legacy

Arts Council President, Rosemary Landry receives legacy cheque from Winter Games Vice-President, Dee-Ann Stickel with Games President, Darren Snider and Mayor Lori Ackerman looking on.

As part of the record breaking BC Winter Games legacy raised by the Fort St. John organizing committee, the Fort St. John Community Arts Council received $60,000 to go to the Sue Popesku Memorial Fund which will be used to establish an endowment fund to support the arts in the North Peace Region. It was a long held dream of Sue’s to create a foundation that would provide support and consistent funding for the Arts Council programs and would benefit all artists and arts groups.

The fund, which was set up in Sue’s name after her sudden passing last April, will build on the work that she did for the betterment of this community over more than 40 years of involvement with the Arts Council.

Donations can be made to the Fund by cheque or e-transfer to the Fort St. John Community Arts Council. Please note on the memo line or the e-transfer that the donation is for the Sue Popesku Memorial Fund.

Through this fund we will honour the legacy of the BC Winter Games in Fort St. John as well as that of a remarkable and beloved person who we still miss.
