Local Performers excel at Provincials

The Peace River North Festival was well represented at the recent Provincial Festival as local performers rose to the occasion at their home festival. We can be very proud of all of our young artists who represented our region with their best efforts along with class and good sportsmanship. To be selected for the Provincials is a notable achievement; to be recognized with an award is a rare honour.

Provincial Festival a Big Success

Fort St. John hosted a very successful Provincial Festival from June 2nd to 6th. More than 500 young performing artists along with their families visited our city and impressed us with their amazing ability in music, dance and speech arts. Performances and technique classes took place in 11 different venues around the community and the festival featured three concerts that were very well attended with enthusiastic audiences enjoying the top performances of the week.

Big thank-you to the following venues that opened their doors to our young performers and were helpful and supportive throughout the festival: The North Peace Cultural Centre, Evangel Downtown, Alliance Church, Presbyterian Church, Calvary Baptist Church, Peace Lutheran Church, Church of Jesus Christ and Latter Day Saints, Evangelical Mission, Northern Lights College, Studio 2 Stage Dance Academy and Alchemy Dance Collective.

The festival would not have been possible without a small army of volunteers who gave up their time to work at the venues and at registration and did the work to organize the event over the last year. Their support for the arts and the community is very much appreciated.

Thank-you as well to the festival sponsors. Without them, none of this would have been possible.

Many businesses welcomed our visitors with special offers and discounts to festival delegates and their families.
