Community Ice Carving Workshop (Learn to Carve Ice with Ryan Cook)
Join world-famous ice and wood carver Ryan Cook for a session where you learn the tricks of the trade! This session is available for all abilities – don’t be shy! Come take advantage of this unique opportunity!

Opening Ceremonies
Kick off this spectacular event at Centennial Park on Friday February 9 beginning at 4:00pm. Check out the Single Block carving competition where carvers only have 2 hours to create a masterpiece right before your eyes!

The staff from Beards Brewing are bringing their goods down to Centennial Park for opening ceremonies. Head to the tents in Centennial Park to enjoy Fort St. John’s signature craft beer and a slice of delicious pizza from Olios. There will be live music from 4:00-8:00pm while you enjoy your brew!

Ice Slides *Free
OPEN FRIDAY FEBRUARY 9 AT 4:00PM
That’s right – the ice slides are back and will be set up in the heart of Centennial Park! Constructed by the carvers, these super fun and fast slides are free for the public to use all weekend! Don’t miss out on the highlight of the festival and make sure to come for a rip!
Coloured Ice
Every year, local art enthusiast Eliza Massey Stanford creates her own coloured ice. She is probably the only person in Fort St. John who gets excited when the thermometer hits -25. Come to Centennial Park and see what creation she puts together and see these vibrant colours pop!

Hot Beverages from the Canadian Grind Coffee & Tea

We are exctied to have the folks from Canadian Grind back in Centennial Park for the weekend to keep everyone warm with delicious beverages! Their mobile trailer will be in Centennial Park Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The hours of operation will be as follows:
Friday February 9 from 4:00-7:30pm – FREE 8 oz. hot chocolate available to all. Other hot beveragess will also be available for purchase. The trailer will be Saturday February 10 hours: 11:00am-5:00pm (regular beverage prices)
Sunday February 11 hours: 11:00am-5:00pm (regular beverage prices)

Curling Bonspiel
Friday February 9 & Saturday February 10
Nothing says Canadian Winter like a CURLING BONSPIEL! Sign your team up for two days of curling action at the Fort St. John Curling Rink. Teams must consist of 4 people and the registration fee is $200. Don’t forget to check out the dance at the curling club on SATURDAY night. All adults 19+ are welcome to partake in a night of dinner, drinks and dancing! This is open to everyone – not just Bonspielers!

“Laugh Your Ice Off” Comedy Show
The Lido Theatre will once again be hosting the annual “Laugh your Ice Off” comedy shows throughout the weekend. This is a 19+ age event and tickets must be purchased in advance or at the door. Shows take place February 9, 10 and 11 at 7:00pm.

Professional Ice Carving (LIVE)
Saturday February 10, 9:00am – 6:00pm
Not only do these carvers spend days working on ice slides and commissioned pieces in advance for you to view, they keep at it throughout the weekend and create even MORE sculptures right before your eyes! Come at watch professionals from around the world as they transform ice into art!
Mayor’s Challenge
Saturday February 10, 10:00am – 4:00pm
The annual “Mayor’s Challenge” will take place again. Observe elected officials from Fort St. John and other nearby communities to try their hand at Ice Carving and compete for bragging rights. This event will take place in Centennial Park so come down and cheer on the home team!
Community Ice Carving Competition

Think you got what it takes to carve like the pros? Sign up and put your skills to the test at the Community Ice Carving Competition! This event is wide open to the public so don’t be shy and come try something new this winter! Registration and more information can be found here (link is external)!
Sledge Hockey Trial *Free
Saturday February 10, 8:00am-10:00pm
Sledge hockey is an adaptive form of ice hockey. This sport is played at the Paralympic level by very skilled athletes. Members from the Fort St. John Sports Council will be facilitating a free sledge hockey trial at the North Peace Arena. This is an exciting sport that many people don’t get the opportunity to try so don’t miss out! All ages welcome, just drop in!

Adult Dodgeball Tournament
Saturday February 10, 11:00am-6:00pm
The HOI Adult Dodgeball tournament is back! Sign your team up for a full-day battle to finish in the top three positions! Prizes go to the top three teams, best dressed, most enthusiastic, and most sportsmanlike teams. Don’t miss out on door prizes, beer garden, 50/50, and concession! Brought to you by North Peace Gymnastics Association.
*REGISTRATION WILL OPEN MONDAY,JANUARY 9 at 9:00am.
Must register in person at the Fort St. John Visitor Centre or North Peace Leisure Pool. Register as a single player for $20 or sign up a team (6-8 players) for $120. One representative from a team can sign a whole team up but it must be done in person.
Registration deadline is February 1st by 4:30pm. Must be 16 years or older to register.

Soup Stock
Saturday February 10 11:00am-3:00pm
Pop down to the Centennial Park tents for Soup Stock! Soup Stock is a waste free event where you can take a break from the cold and warm up with some hot soup! Bring your own mug, and for a small fee of $2 per serving, you have access to a selection of delicious soups. Enjoy live music while you feast on delicious local soups! Remember to bring your cash!

Face Painting *Free
Friday February 9 5:00-700pm & Saturday February 10 12:00-4:00pm
Bring your little one into the tents at Centennial park to get their face painted up by volunteers from the Child Development Centre! This is a popular activity so get there early and be mindful of when get in line – all face painting end s at the exact  advertised times.
Horse Drawn Sleigh Rides *Free
NEW LOCATION – KIN PARK
Saturday February 10, Sunday February 11, and Monday February 12 from 11:00am-3:00pm
Members from the Northern Horse & Mule Harness Association are back again to provide free horse drawn sleigh rides at their NEW location at Kin Park! The loading zone will be directly behind the outdoor rink at Kin Park so park your cars by the rink and enjoy some outdoor skating while you’re there! No registration required. Sleigh rides will be canceled at -20 or colder temperatures. Please leave your pets at home as it can spook the horses.
*NOTE: the Kin Park outdoor rink is located next to Bert Ambrose Elementary School – please refrain from parking on the dirt road adjacent to the baseball diamonds
Cross Country Skiing Try-it Event *Free
Saturday February 10
2:00 – 3:00pm (Children/Famiiles)
3:00 – 4:00pm (Teens/Adults)
Drop by Beatton Provincial Park on Saturday to give cross country skiing a try! Coaches from the Whiskey Jack Nordic Ski Club will be there to show you the ropes and help you improve your skills. This activity is for all ages. Wear your wool socks, mittens, and other warm clothes. Event will be cancelled if temperatures reach -20.
Rental equipment will be available for free use by those wishing to try cross country skiing. Equipment is available for ages 5 to adult.  If you require equipment, please register in advance by going to: https://whiskeyjacknordic.ca/free-crosscountry-skiing-try-it-event-feb-10/ (link is external).  Those bringing their own cross country ski equipment are not required to register in advance.
Peace Passage Skating Club – Dinner and Dance

Get your dancing shoes on for a great cause! Members of the Peace Passage Skating Club want you to get into the Winter Spirit at their annual Dinner and Dance Fundraiser! There will be a door prizes, prize balloons, a Winter Wonderland Theme!

Ice Fishing Derby – Mile 54 Boat Launch – Charlie Lake *Free

The annual Ice Fishing Derby will be taking place at the Mile 54 boat launch on Charlie Lake this year. Registration for this event will occur on site. Don’t forget your fishing license – you will need it at weigh in time.

Snowshoeing at Charlie Lake * FREE

Members from the Charlie Lake Elementary school PAC are lending out their snowshoes for the public to borrow! Check in at the ice fishing tent tent to borrow a set of snowshoes and explore the trails around Charlie Lake Provincial Park.

Evangel Chapel Family Carnival *Free

The family fun continues on Sunday afternoon in Centennial Park! Bring the whole family down for fun and games between 1:00-3:00pm.
Bouncing Beans
Sunday Feb 11 11:00am to 3:30pm at the Kids Arena Fieldhouse
Family FREE event! Fun for all ages to play run around on the pitch, build forts, throw the ball around, or jump around on the bouncy castles. Parents must supervise children at all times.
Fire & Ice Closing Ceremony
Sunday Feb 11 at 6:00pm
Everyone loves the annual Fire & Ice event for our closing ceremony! Carvers light up the fire tower and all are welcome to watch it burn down to mark the end of the ice/snow portion of the High on Ice Winter Festival.
Bergen Financial Family Day Swim *Free
Monday, February 12 – 1:00-4:00pm at the North Peace Leisure Pool
Head to the North  Peace Leisure Pool on Family Day! This swim is free to the public, thanks to our sponsor Bergen Financial Inc.
