North Peace Choir to Sing at Carnegie Hall

The North Peace Community Choir is one of two Canadian choirs selected, along with choirs from around the world, to perform Handel’s Messiah in Carnegie Hall in New York on November 29. This is quite an honor and we have been working hard to learn Parts 2 & 3 of the Messiah, many of us rehearsing throughout the summer. Training started under Rachel Casponi last year, and since she has moved out of the community, Merrill Flewelling from Dawson Creek has been directing us since the beginning of September. We practice at the Mormon Church on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9pm or later.  Our upcoming fund raiser events are as follows:
Friday, Sept. 25 at 7pm, a barn dance at the Pomeroy Barn. The cost is $ 20.00/person and tickets are available at Whole Wheat and Honey and Esteem Cleaners.
Monday, Oct. 26 at Boston Pizza. 10% of the sales for meals will be given to the choir. Patrons just have to indicate “choir” on their bill.
Friday and Saturday evenings, Nov. 13 & 14 at the Cultural Centre- a concert, with small orchestral group of the Messiah. Tickets available at the Cultural Centre.
Each member of the choir must pay a performance fee of $690.00 ( U.S.) as well as their flights, hotels and meals there. The fund raising proceeds will be distributed to the choir members to help with their expenses.  This is a once in a lifetime opportunity and the North Peace will be well represented on an international stage.
