Last month in Fort St. John, LegaciesNow delivered the Northeast Arts Summit, a two-day event focused on providing professional development to enhance the skills, knowledge and expertise of those working in the sector, as well as to strengthen regional networks to encourage increased communication, collaboration and cooperation. One of the main topics throughout the Arts Summit was Investing in the Arts – why it's important and how it can build a community.
Bill Usher, Executive Director of Kicking Horse Culture/Golden & District Arts Council, gave a presentation titled "Cultivating the Creative Community: The success story of a rural, small town in BC." You will find the video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=209tdFLI0m0 The video features an interview with Christine Benty, Mayor of Golden, BC, Caleb Moss, Councillor and David Allen, Chief Administrative Officer with the Town of Golden. The video tells the story of how and why the Town of Golden's invests in their arts and culture community, and why they consider it of great value and importance. LegaciesNow gives special thanks to Bill Usher, Executive Director of Kicking Horse Culture and Rider Media for producing this video. Funding for the video was provided by the Arts area of 2010 Legacies Now.

Well the North Peace Fall Fair has once again come and gone. Thank you to all of our members and volunteers who donated pies, their time, or both over this past weekend.
This fundraiser marked our 3rd annual Fall Fair Pie Fundraiser and each year has been more successful than the next. With over 70 of the “World’s Best Pie”(s) sold and countless pots of the “Best Coffee Ever” we can proudly attest that our volunteers are the best and we couldn’t do it with out them!
Proceeds from the Fall Fair Pie Fundraiser support the ArtsPost facility, home of the Fort St. John Community Arts Council, the North Peace Spinners’ & Weavers’ Guild and the North Peace Potters’ Guild.
