Oil Painters of the Peace

A group of 50 local Artists and Certified Art Instructors. Instructors include founder DONNA FOLK (Certified Art Instructor with: CRFI, ACI, WBRI, and Active member of The Federation of Canadian Artists), JERSON BULATAO (ACI), AMY CANTLON (ACI), MAUREEN HUMMEL(ACI), Instructor MARGIE MacKENZIE,(specializes in traditional Portait and Animal classes), Instructor JANIS HERBISON (specializes in Watercolour), and many, many other very talented Artists.

DONNA FOLK is the only Certified Instructor to teach both "wet on wet" and "Traditional" as well as "Floral" oil painting in Western Canada. Landscape, Seascape, Portrait, Floral and Animal classes are available at her Studio year around. Her website is: donnafolk.com Telephone:250-785-6595

The focus of the Group is to expand their knowledge in various Art mediums. We paint with: "Watercolour","Wet on Wet" oil painting, "Traditional" oil painting, "Acrylics", "ScratchArt", "Pen and Ink" and other art mediums.

Each painter has the opportunity to advance to different levels and receive Certificates for each level from Certified Instructors.

"Wet on Wet" oil painting was developed by BILL ALEXANDER who had his own TV shows years ago called "The Happy Painter". He taught it to many people including BOB ROSS, who some remember from his TV shows, "The Joy of Painting". This style of painting is very popular world wide as most paintings are completed from start to finish in ONE day! Different paints, brushes and mediums are used than the more traditional oil painting. A whole new experience for oil painters in this area!

"Traditional" oil painting takes much longer, uses different methods, paints and brushes. One layer has to dry before another layer can be applied. Many of the "Traditional" Oil painting classes offered are once a week, for 5-6 weeks.

We are not only Oil painters! That is why the + sign is in our name :)

There are many "Happy Painters" in this group, and we hope to be posting paintings done by many.
