Peace Gallery North’s next exhibit will be opening this Friday, April 1st and will run through to Saturday, April 23.
“Points of View 3” showcases the work of local art group, Flying Colours Artists’ Association. See how various artists’ work reflects an individual approach when the same reference is used by a group… See a selection of interpretations on canvas and paper.
There will be an opening reception on Friday, April 1st from 7:00 to 9:00pm.
Flying Colours Artists’ Association provides support and educational opportunities for practicing artists in the region through the sponsorship of art workshops, artist retreats and mentoring. The association has obtained a printing press and artists are now using a wide variety of printmaking approaches to create diverse original hand-pulled prints. Member’s work may be viewed at on a year ‘round basis at Peace Gallery North in the North Peace Cultural Centre. Look for their annual show in the spring. Many of their members are also members of the Peace River Chapter of the Federation of Canadian Artists.
Flying Colours’ Printmaking Marathon is a fundraising event conceived in support of the North Peace Cultural Centre’s 20th Anniversary Celebration in 2013.
Members of Flying Colours will be working on and demonstrating the processes involved in creating a variety of original, hand-pulled prints at the North Peace Cultural Centre on Friday and Saturday, April 12th and 13th from 10:00 to 5:00. The event will place in the meeting room next door to the gallery and will be open to the public. Viewers will be able to watch the prints being made and matted, to see completed works on display and talk with the artists. Some work may be for sale.
Funds raised will support the publication of a brochure and map as a guide to the ART WALK and STUDIO CRAWL, which will take place during the first 20 days in June.
